Chief Transportation of MS was founded on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, by Christopher and Marta Herring.

Christopher Herring, owner and operator of Chief Transportation of MS is a well-trained and experienced Over-The-Road (OTR) company truck driver. He has a degree in Business Management which he applied in a long career in the business of Education and establishing school operations, both here in the USA and internationally. Along with his wife, Marta Herring, and the support of professional friends, Mr. Herring has the life experiences, training, and necessary skills to meet your OTR long haul and regional delivery service needs both safely and efficiently.

Chris is a native of Mississippi but has lived and worked for many years in southern California and around Hood River, Oregon. He also taught school in South Korea, served as a school administrator in Singapore and traveled extensively in the Far East from India, Viet Nam, Taiwan, and to inside mainland China. He and his wife, Marta have two sons. One is in Oregon and the other married a Taiwanese national where they currently reside. Before embarking on the trucking venture, Chris and his wife returned to Mississippi to care for Chris’s elderly parents in their last days. Still, Chris did not sit idle during this time, but developed American Education Advantage – a program to assist young people from China to transition to schools in the USA during their High School years with the intention of a college education from here also. After driving for companies with his Class A CDL and then starting his own, he continues living a life of learning – learning everyday about people and about trucking, helping all along the way.

Marta Herring – Marta met Chris while they were attending college at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. She was from Sioux City, IA at the time. Marta became a schoolteacher after graduation from college. She and Chris have worked side-by side through the years. Marta has also served as a school administrator. She has also planned and implemented logistics for many school visits to Washington, DC, New York and to Cambodia from Singapore - skills that have proven highly transferable to the trucking industry.
